One of my long standing road blocks has been the identity of George F. Scoville's parents, as well as any information on him prior to the 1900 U.S. Census. First, a bit of what I do know:

- His headstone (located in Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort, Marshall Co., KS) has him living from 1860 to 1933.
- He married Martha Ann Cass around 1889 and they had 10 children together, all born in Kansas.
- I have found census records for George from 1900 to 1930, though they certainly give mixed information.
- They give his birth year as 1861, 1862, 1863 and 1864; none of which match what is on his headstone.
- Three of the four give his birth place as Wisconsin, so I have operated under the assumption that this is likely where he was born.
- His parent's birth places are equally mixed; father said to be born in Ireland, Illinois and Wisconsin, while mother is listed as being born in Scotland or the United States.
